Bodie Island Lighthouse is located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, specifically in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The lighthouse was first built in 1847, but was replaced in 1859 with the current structure that stands today. It is 156 feet tall and has a distinctive black and white horizontal stripe pattern. The lighthouse was decommissioned in 1950, but was later restored and opened to the public in 2013. Visitors can climb the 214 steps to the top of the lighthouse for panoramic views of the surrounding area.
